The British actor was flying solo at the premiere of his new film Safe, at the BFI IMAX in Waterloo.

Looking rather dapper in a grey suit, and keeping his shades firmly in place, the 44-year-old star spent time posing for photographs and signing autographs for the waiting crowd.

He was sporting his trademark stubble, and rejected a tie as he teased fans with a whisper of chest hair from beneath his unbuttoned shirt.

Former X Factor wannabe-turned-model Lucie Jones also graced the red carpet.

The pretty brunette looked pleased that the washout weather finally offered some respite as she opted to go bare-legged and without a jacket in a sleeveless dress.

The action thriller follows a former NYPD law enforcer who ends up battling the Russian Mafia and high-level corrupt New York City politicians after rescuing a young abducted Chinese girl.

Jason revealed tonight that he was foolish to boast that he can do all his own stunts – as directors never let him off the hook and is persuaded to take on dangerous moves.

He said: ‘I made a silly statement years ago that I would do my own stunts and that’s the way it’s been ever since.

‘I did Transporter with Luc Besson and I ended up doing pretty much everything, so from that day forth it was a slippery slope to try and change things – until I couldn’t.’
