Keanu Reeves recently joined the cast of the upcoming Paramount sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3, lending his voice to the enigmatic hedgehog character Shadow. This decision received an endorsement from voice actor Jason Griffith, who previously portrayed Shadow in various media.

In an interview with TMZ, the 43-year-old Griffith expressed his approval of Keanu’s casting, describing it as “a great choice.” He highlighted the caliber of Reeves’ iconic roles, such as Ted Theodore Logan, John Wick, and Neo, suggesting that they make Reeves well-suited to portray Shadow.

Griffith admitted that he had hoped for Keanu’s casting when rumors about various actors circulated. He praised Reeves’ natural speaking voice, which he believes aligns perfectly with the character of Shadow.

While some speculated that Griffith might reprise his role as Shadow in the movie, he clarified that he was not approached for the role. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude for having voiced the character for many years and welcomed the opportunity for Keanu to bring his own interpretation to the role.

Griffith emphasized the importance of embracing change in the entertainment industry, acknowledging that Keanu’s inclusion would bring significant attention to the project.

He also offered advice to Reeves on voicing the character, suggesting that he tap into the darker aspects of Shadow’s persona while maintaining his anti-hero qualities.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features a star-studded cast including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as Tails, Colleen O’Shaughnessy as Knuckles, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and Krysten Ritter as Captain Rockwell. The film is set to Һit theaters on December 20.
